This will be the name you use for all your network operations and it will also be your default system prompt. Question: How do you change the hostname on Solaris X86 after installation? SOLUTION: There are several files you can manually modify to change your hostname. 1. /etc/nodename 2. /etc/hostname.smc0 (smc0 refers to the ethernet card. Use the appropriate driver name) 3. /etc/inet/hosts which is symbolically linked to /etc/hosts 4. /etc/net/ticlts/hosts 5. /etc/net/ticots/hosts 6. /etc/net/ticotsord/hosts Just edit these files and replace your old hostname with your new hostname.
