SYNOPSIS: Running CDE from a remote Machine.

OS RELEASE: Solaris

PRODUCT: CDE

KEYWORDS: CDE xdm remote X window Manager

DESCRIPTION:

Running CDE on your desktop without installing it locally.

SOLUTION:

CDE is now at its beta stage. We have just released CDE Beta 1.0. If
you do not want to install CDE on your local desktop but still run it
remote and check it out, here is what you do:

You need CDE installed on at least one system on the same subnet that
you are in You need Openwindows runtime installed on you local machine.

HOW TO RUN:
-----------

Simply come out of openwindows on your console and type.

# /usr/openwin/bin/X -once -query

You will get a dtlogin screen. Login and you will have CDE on your
desktop. When you are done just click on the exit button and then you
can start up openwindows.

HOW DOES IT WORK:
------------------

This system on which CDE is installed is used as a server for running
CDE on your machine. The command that you issue will run X server on
your local machine and request the remote server to run its login onto
your machine. The login process, dtlogin, will invoke CDE once you
login.
