SYNOPSIS: Installing Solaris Core on IDE disk

OS RELEASE: Solaris core

PRODUCT:

KEYWORDS: DU4 Solaris Core IDE disk

SYMPTOMS:

Solaris core does not recognise IDE disks during install.

DESCRIPTION:

Installing Solaris core will fail on some IDE disks. Though the MDB
boot sees the IDE disk, the disk will not be available for install.

SOULTION:

Actually this is a bug with DU4. Since the Solaris Core boot disk is
based on DU4, this problem was seen only on DU4 and was solved on DU5.
Also DU3 and earlier did not have this problem.

The workaround is to use a Solaris FCS boot floppy instead of the
Solaris core boot floppy. Also when DU6 or later is available then you
can use it.
