SYNOPSIS: Installing DU Distibution disk after install

OS RELEASE:  2.4

PRODUCT:     Solaris x86

KEYWORDS: Install DU distribution disks cpio

DESCRIPTION:

How to install the DU distribution after the system was installed
without the Distribution disks.

SOLUTION:

When installing Solaris with the driver update the system requests the
distribution diskette. If you forget to insert the disk at this time
then the system will not complain but boot up without the distribution
patches and new drivers. Here is a simple way to add the distribution
disk after installing the system.

If your boot controller was not supported by Solaris 2.4 FCS then the
system will not boot up now. Use the driver update boot disk to boot
the system. If your boot controller was supported by the Solaris 2.4
FCS then just boot up the system.

Insert the driver update floppy. Cpio the image using the following
command:

If vold is running.....

 $ volcheck -v

 $ cpio -icduv < /vol/dev/aliases/floppy0

If not.....

 $ cpio 0icduv < /dev/diskette0

The above command will generate two files installdu.sh installpatch.

Run the two programs....

 $ installdu.sh
 $ installpatch

Now reboot the system.
