DOCUMENT ID: 1504-02 SYNOPSIS: How to start/stop CDE manually OS RELEASE: Solaris 2.4, 2.5 PRODUCT: Solaris CDE KEYWORDS: cde diskless installation DESCRIPTION: Once CDE is installed on your system, it will be started automatically upon booting. How do you change this behavior so that you can start it manually later instead? SOLUTION: The CDE installation puts two files under the /etc/rc*.d directory: /etc/rc1.d/K10dtlogin /etc/rc2.d/S99dtlogin You can rename these files something other than the leading "K" or "S". Next time, rebooting will not start CDE. To Start CDE manually, you can invoke: # /etc/rc2.d/S99dtlogin start To Stop CDE manually, you can invoke: # /etc/rc2.d/S99dtlogin stop DATE APPROVED: 09/05/95
