SYNOPSIS: Installing CDE on a diskless client
OS RELEASE: 2.4
PRODUCT: Solaris CDE
KEYWORDS: cde diskless installation
DESCRIPTION:
Is there a good way to install CDE on a diskless client, once it has
been installed on the server?
SOLUTION:
Since a diskless client mounts /usr from the server system, as long as
you have installed CDE on the server, you have the CDE software
available on the diskless side also.
The remaining directory pertaining to the CDE is: /etc.
Once the diskless system is up, you can invoke /usr/dt/bin/dtlogin to
start up the CDE session manually, or you can copy /etc/rc1.d/K10dtlogin
and /etc/rc2.d/S99dtlogin to the diskless client's root directory to
start the CDE session upon rebooting.
You can also edit these files from the server side:
(e.g. /export/root//etc/...)
