DOCUMENT ID: 1550-02 SYNOPSIS: Reconfiguring a System OS RELEASE: 2.x PRODUCT: Solaris x86 KEYWORDS: network standalone client ip DESCRIPTION: When the Solaris operating system is first installed, the user specifies the system name, whether the system is networked or not, and the naming service in use. It is possible to change these options at a later date in case the system name is changed or a system that did not initially have a network card has had one installed and will now be networked. SOLUTION: Running /usr/sbin/sys-unconfig will put the Operating System into a near pristene state and reboot. Upon reboot you will once again be asked questions about the system name, and if a network card is present you will be asked about the IP address and naming servive in use. This provides an easy way to change details about the system at a later date. DATE APPROVED: 11/27/95
