DOCUMENT ID: 1034-02 SYNOPSIS: Adding customized colors to individual windows in Openwindows OS RELEASE: 2.1, 2.4, 2.5 PRODUCT: Solaris KEYWORDS: add custom color window Openwindows DESCRIPTION: Normally when invoking an application such as Mailtool, the default or systemwide color scheme is used. Individual work habits or desires may require customized colorization of windows. SOLUTION: The process of setting up a work space involves positioning selected application windows from a menu or invoking commands within windows. Once the work space is arranged an "image" is saved using the "Save work space" function, creating or replacing an .openwin-init file in the "home" directory. Each window is saved either with systemwide color schemes or default colors. Examination of the .openwin-init file reveals invocation of each window along with any color parameters in the work space. The invocation parameters for each command within the .openwin-init file are modified to include desired color schemes. Background color is specified by "-bg" while foreground is specified by "-fg". The names of the colors may be picked from a list common. The customized windows correctly positioned with selected colors will be displayed the next invocation of Openwin. It should be noted that further use of the save work space function results with destruction the modified .openwin-init file. If additional rearrangement of the work space or colors are required, the window invocations in the .openwin file must be modified. DATE APPROVED: 09/18/95
